Wedding Receptions: 10 Ways to get your guests involved:

You want your guests to be a part of the magic. You want to feel the love in the room when you walk in. A little planning will make your wedding reception out of this world!

1. Start on time. You don't want your guests waiting. Frustrated guests that are sitting around waiting for you will not bring love into the room when you arrive to celebrate.

2. Interact with your guests. Let them feel the love too! Talk to them, walk around the room. Let them know you're grateful that they came to celebrate with you.

3. Add Personal Touches. Memories are always a great way to get your guests involved. Old photographs, music, or things of the past will connect with your guests.

4. Provide conversation starters. Not all of your guests will know each other. Try to find a way to get everyone talking. Trivia questions, or a "who's who" questionnaire are great ways to let your guest interact.

5. Be active in your reception. Your guests will notice what you're doing at your reception. If you dance, they'll dance too.

6. Play music that appeals to a variety of attendees. Mix it up! Play the party music that everyone can dance to, and lean towards your personal favorites towards the end.

7. Keep all entertainment inside the reception room. Keeping all activities in the same room will keep your guests around each other. You don't want to distract your guests away from the reception.

8. Make sure the music isn't too loud. Music should be fun and entertaining, but if it get's too loud you may see your guests walk away for a breather, which will slow down your party.

9. Keep the party moving. According to traditional etiquette, it is proper to leave only after the cake is cut. Holding guests "hostage" if they want to leave isn't a good way to get them involved. Cutting the cake after dinner allows the guests who want to eat dessert and leave to feel comfortable doing so. Leave the partying to those who want to party.

10. Allow group dances. Joining a big group on the dance floor will allow those who won't dance solo to join in. Yes, the songs may be cheesy, but it brings fun and involvement to those who otherwise may not join in.
